When and how did APIVA start?

Our Story

What We Do

Our Services

APIVA was formed in 2015 when there was a need for a group to organize and support the outreach consular program of the Philippine Embassy for Filipino nationals within Shizuoka Prefecture who weren't able to avail the consular services in Shizuoka City and in Hamamatsu City. It was then that on-call Filipino and Japanese residents gladly volunteered to support the program.

PURPOSE:

We provide humanitarian support, voluntary assistance, and coordination for the ff:

  •  Troubled Filipino individuals needing legal assistance, advice, translators, interpreters and the like,

  •  Philippine Embassy outreach consular missions,

  • Promotion of the Filipino culture and heritage through festivals and the like,

  • Objectives of other organizations, groups and individuals committed to help less-fortunate and troubled Filipinos and other individuals in society.

  • Japan-based Filipinos, Japanese-Filipino children and Japanese friends in general in overcoming the communication barrier.

Strategic Objectives:

  1. Organize activities and promote the Philippine culture and heritage through festivals and other international gatherings.

  2. Provide assistance and coordination in line with the Philippine Embassy outreach consular missions and other organization’s activities.

  3. Expand membership and connections by assisting groups in forming new APIVA chapters in nearby towns and cities for easy access and coordination in times of calamity and disaster.

  4. To grant and extend formal and non-formal Japanese and English language training assistance for the beneficiaries.

  5. To initiate and conduct orientation seminars enhancing their knowledge on their rights and obligations as settlers and residents of Japan.

  6. To initiate and conduct consultations and seminars on legal matters with the help of supporting legal experts.

  7. To develop, stimulate, initiate or undertake programs and projects for charitable purposes for the social and economic amelioration of the less-privileged sector of society due to lack of knowledge and communication skills.

  8. To establish, setup and maintain scholarship funds, and in the aid of these purposes, shall conduct fund raising  activities, receive grants, bequests, and donations from all sources, whether it be in cash or in kind, property or otherwise.
